Contour Design's RollerMouse™ Station Reduces Wrist Pain By 70% at Fortune 50 company

Windham, NH – October 17, 2002 – Contour Design, Inc. today announces the results of the second ergonomics study in a major pharmaceutical company to test the effects of the RollerMouse™ Station on typing-intensive jobs. The study reveals that Contour Design's RollerMouse™ can lessen upper extremity pain substantially. Wrist pain was reduced in 70% of the study's participants using the RollerMouse™ and right hand pain was reduced 50%.    

The RollerMouse™ also scored very high as an alternative to other computer input devices, saving time and increasing productivity over conventional mice. Other measured responses of this study included comfort level, accuracy, overall ease of operation, effort required, pain reported by region, and pain associated with the devices. The group using the RollerMouse™ responded the most positively and had significant reduction in pain in the shoulder, wrist, hand, and forearm regions.

The results of this study illustrate that use of the RollerMouse™ is beneficial to computer mouse users, as it reduces pain associated with using a standard two-button mouse. The advantage of the RollerMouse™ Station is that it keeps the user's hands in the optimal work zone atop the keyboard, eliminating the need to reach for an external mouse. Participants reported less pain after using the RollerMouse's unique bar/mouse design for just two weeks.
